Many of you know our dear friend Darren Quinn… our awesome wedding minister/spiritual advisor. Well, me and his family would like to ask for your help – it will just take a second.
Darren’s sister Megan has spent the last 10 years living in Germany, South Korea and various locations in the U.S. with her husband, an Air Force pilot, and two young boys.
While living in Germany, she worked as a childbirth educator and doula for military families. Given that they were delivering their babies in a German hospital, her services were very unique and highly sought after by expecting couples on base. As a doula, she would go to the hospital as the “stand-in” daddy-to-be for those dads who were deployed at the time their wives gave birth.
Last year, she launched a website, ShopZoolu, specifically for military families stationed overseas. It is a cross between Babies ‘R’ Us and a corner baby boutique – and allows military families stationed overseas to have greater access to the top-of-the-line baby items available today. For her work, she was awarded the Air Force Spouse of the Year for 2011 by Military Spouse Magazine. In May, the magazine will fly her husband and her to Washington D.C. for a VIP tour of the Pentagon with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mike Mullen ’64, and for the luncheon where they will award the 2011 Military Spouse of the Year.
Megan was recently named one of the five finalists for 2011 Military Spouse of the Year.
If when Megan wins, she’ll be representing more than 1.1 million military spouses worldwide and write a monthly article for Military Spouse Magazine as well as making a number of national television appearances.
